OS licence changes
From November 19th 2010, a new Ordnance Survey trading model has been introduced.
As a Promap customer you won't need to take any action as any changes will happen automatically in the system. However you may want to know more about the licence changes and data sets now available so we have included a brief overview of some of the key points.
The PDB and IBU licences have now been merged which means you can now use one licence to cover your internal business use and use with collaborative partners. In summary, the key changes are:
Current benefits
Use within your business for project specific work to include data sharing with project managers and other users involved in the project (including contractors subject to a contractor licence)
Choice of licence periods: 12, 18, 24 or 30 months
Use of data on multiple terminals (up to 40 terminals)
The right to archive one paper or electronic copy for a period of 13 years after the licence has expired
New benefits
You can still share data internally within your organisation and with contractors, subject to entering into a written contractor licence where data is shared in electronic form. Where a contractor receives paper copies you don't have to enter into a written agreement (but they are still bound by specific restrictions)
You can now licence for up to 3 years. Choice of licence periods: 12, 24 or 36 months.
For sites less than 234km2 you can licence data on unlimited terminals and for sites greater than 234km2 you will be able to specify an agreed number of terminals.
You can now archive the licenced data indefinitely for the purpose of addressing a complaint or challenge from a third party regarding your use of such licensed data during the term of your licence.
