OS Data  :  VectorMap Local®

VectorMap Local® (VML)

What is it?

VectorMap Local® is a national vector dataset supplied in Geography Markup Language (GML). It has been derived from Ordnance Survey Landplan data and has been generalised to view between scales of 1:3000 and 1:20000.

VectorMap Local® enables businesses to add their own content and display for backdrop mapping. Being Vector data means the data can be customised and viewed to suit the way you choose to display your information.

Includes: roads, railways, vegetation, boundaries, urban extent and buildings.

How can VectorMap Local® benefit you?

The intrinsic flexibility of Ordnance Survey VectorMap Local® means you can clearly and sharply portray the information you need, how you need it. Data quality is core to ensuring reliability. Critically the data can be styled for different applications or scales by the use of style-sheets.

Some examples of how the data can be used:

VectorMap Local® can improve performance by meeting specific and various business needs within one digital map. One such example of how VectorMap Local® can assist is in Estate management - enabling the extent of the Estate to be clearly highlighted and understood, identifying land usage and location of housing on Estates. VectorMap Local® is a cost effective option as it can be styled in a number of ways to best provide geographic context to your information.
