Flood Reports
Traditionally, flood risk has been based on indicative flood data. The Flood Report is able to differentiate between properties within a flood plain, identifying, for example, those properties on higher ground which therefore face reduced or no risk.
Although a standard environmental report does provide some flood information, only the property specific Professional Flood Report available through Promap features clear assessment and detailed flood risk information from leading data providers as well as providing a valuable insurability rating and information on past insurance claims.
Key features
It is vital to have buildings and contents insurance, and ideally this will at least repay the cost of building repairs and contents replacement, following flooding.
But insurance does not protect against:
- The distress or inconvenience caused by being in temporary accommodation for lengthy periods
- Coverage totalling 231,236 km2, the survey covers England, Wales and Scotland
- A potential fall in the value of their home
- Future insurance premiums rising exponentially e.g. a premium of £500 being increased to £10,000
Data included:
- Norwich Union Flood Risk and Insurability
- A detailed, property-specific assessment of river and coastal flood risk, covering risk of flooding as well as 'insurability risk'.
- Insurance Claims
- An indication of the insurance claims rating for flooding within the postcode sector, by comparing the number of flood insurance claims made to the number of properties.
- British Geological Survey (BGS) Susceptibility to Groundwater Flooding
- Identifies where geological conditions could enable groundwater flooding to occur and where groundwater may come close to the ground surface.
- BGS Geological Indicators
- Indicates those geological deposits which have been associated with flooding in the recent geological past and which therefore may still be vulnerable to flooding.
