Landmark to climb UK's three highest peaks in aid of deaf children

Release Date: 23 April 2007

Landmark Information Group is donating £10,000 for the National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) by undertaking the gruelling 24 hour NDCS Three Peaks Challenge. Landmark employees will scale the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales to raise money to support deaf children and their families.

The teams based in Exeter and Henley are each made up of seven walkers and two drivers. Both teams will start their challenge, which involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, at 3pm on Saturday 2 June 2007.

Commenting on Landmark Information Group's involvement, Stephen Stout, Group Managing Director said: "Landmark is very proud to be supporting the National Deaf Children's Society. Our involvement with the charity follows feedback from our staff that they wanted the company to support a children's charity. The NDCS's Three Peak Challenge provided us with the perfect opportunity to support such a charity, whilst at the same time allowing our staff to actively get involved and make a difference. We wish both teams the very best of luck."

Helen Williams, NDCS Head of Events, explains the reasons behind the charity: "Every day in the UK three babies are born deaf and most are born to hearing parents with no experience of deafness. The NDCS is the only UK charity solely dedicated to the support of deaf children and young people, their families, and professionals working with them and is funded almost entirely through public donations. Our work would not be possible without the commitment of people like the Landmark Information Group teams."

NDCS Challenges offer the experience of a lifetime and there are always new adventures to sign up for. If you'd like to find out more please call NDCS Challenges on: 0870 7747774 or visit: www.ndcschallenges.org.uk
