Promap And 64-Bit Operating Systems

Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems are all available in a 32-bit and a 64-bit versions, the 64-bit versions should have Internet Explorer installed as a 32-bit and a 64-bit as standard.

At present the Promap website will only install and run the required ActiveX control on the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer.

To ensure you have the 32-bit version open follow the steps below and you will be able to install the ActiveX and log into Promap.

  1. Click on your ‘Start’ button
  2. Type ‘Internet Explorer’ in the search box.
  3. Above the Search Box you should see three options under ‘Programs’.
  4. Select the option that simply says ‘Internet Explorer’.

Promap will not run on the option that says ‘Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) as this version will not run any ActiveX controls, nor at present will it install or run on the 64-bit version.

If this does not work, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following folder;

C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer

In this folder double click on the icon for ‘iexplore.exe’.  This should open the 32bit version of IE.
