Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems are all available in a 32-bit and a 64-bit versions, the 64-bit versions should have Internet Explorer installed as a 32-bit and a 64-bit as standard.
At present the Promap website will only install and run the required ActiveX control on the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer.
To ensure you have the 32-bit version open follow the steps below and you will be able to install the ActiveX and log into Promap.
- Click on your ‘Start’ button
- Type ‘Internet Explorer’ in the search box.
- Above the Search Box you should see three options under ‘Programs’.
- Select the option that simply says ‘Internet Explorer’.
Promap will not run on the option that says ‘Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) as this version will not run any ActiveX controls, nor at present will it install or run on the 64-bit version.
If this does not work, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following folder;
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer
In this folder double click on the icon for ‘iexplore.exe’. This should open the 32bit version of IE.
